Motorists keen to take advantage of the government’s car scrappage incentive scheme have been advised the initiative might not offer the best deals for everyone. According to Which? Car, people interested in a city model or a supermini may well be able to secure a bargain by taking part in the programme.
It stated that people looking to buy a vehicle with the list price of less than £10,000 can expect to make a saving of at least 20%. However, it warned this might not be the case for bigger models.
Editor Richard Headland said that “on more expensive cars, shop around for bigger scrappage discount or check if buying second-hand is cheaper”. One cash for bangers deal highlighted as being good value for money by Which? Car is the Hyundai i10 currently available for £ 4,995.
As well as getting the best scrappage scheme bargains, people buying smaller vehicles may qualify for cheap car insurance quotes.
