A recent research report has revealed some amazing results about the car insurance industry in the UK market. This recent report has thrown light on the fact that about 94 per cent of all car insurance policies are not offering any cover for the incidents of road rage in the UK.
This fact has risen despite of another research’s findings that a considerable number of UK motorists would want to cover their vehicles for the road rage incidents also. Another study that gave this result also revealed that driver over the age of 55 valued this road rage cover quite high.
If we compare the market and various available car insurance policies, only one out of eight policies offers cover for road rage incidents. This number has been increasing steadily but the pace seems very low. In the year 2005, about 99 percent of the policies did not cover road rage incidents for the motorists.
Even if a policy offers protection of the vehicle against road rage incidents, there are a number of prerequisites and conditions attached to it. These conditions are functioni8ng nothing more than obstacles for the motorists who actually want to make a claim for such incident.
For instance, some car insurance policies will not pay the claim to the policyholder if he says anything in response (that has antagonised the situation) to the one who caused the road rage mishap. In another example, car insurance policy will not cover for the road rage incident if the attacker is a relative to the victim or knows him in any way. The reason stated behind this by the insurance companies that there may be some other motive for making an attack.
In the cases where the money has been paid to the motorists for settling their claim, the money is exclusively for post attack counseling or for compensating the physical attacks.
